How oten do you need Test and Tag?
Test and Tag frequencies vary by State in Australia. NSW Standards are as follows:
Every 3 months – Hire equipment (or prior to hire).
Every 6 months – Factories, workshops, assembly, maintenance, commercial cleaning equipment.
Every 12 months – Environment where the equipment is subject to flexing in normal use or is in a hostile environment.
Every two years – Residential institutions, hotels, halls, motels, accommodation places.
Every five years – Environment where the equipment is not subject to flexing in normal use or is not in a hostile environment.
What equipment requires test and tag?
All electrical portable appliances within your workplace and up to 2.5m from the ground must be inspected regularly. In general, the following items are an example of required appliances for testing and tagging – laptops, desktop computers and monitors, chargers, printers, fax machines, power boards, extension cords, three phase equipment, RCD’s, kitchen appliances etc.
